Windows & Lighting Design

A specialist design service that helps you understand how natural and artificial light work together in your home. Ideal for anyone unsure how to dress their windows, improve lighting levels, or create the right mood throughout the day.

We’ll look at how daylight moves through each room, how it changes seasonally, and how window treatments and finishes affect it. You’ll also receive tailored advice on artificial lighting including how to enhance natural light during darker months and create balance when the days are bright. From curtains and blinds to bulb types, fittings, and placement, every recommendation is specific to your space.

You’ll receive a detailed lighting guide with practical suggestions for window dressings and light fittings, helping you achieve a well-lit home in every season.

The Process

  • 01. Share Your Plans and Photos

You’ll receive a short form to complete before we begin. This helps me understand your rooms, any existing window treatments, and lighting issues you’d like to improve. If you’re unsure about anything, we’ll go through it together during our meeting.

  • 02. Consultation

We meet either in person or online to walk through your space and discuss how it feels at different times of day. I’ll ask about any problem areas: rooms that feel too dark, too bright, or never quite comfortable.
In-person consultations are available for an additional charge of £99.

  • 03. Light Analysis

I review how natural light moves through your home, how it changes seasonally, and how your window placement, finishes, and current fittings affect the space. I’ll then look at your artificial lighting to see how the two can work better together.

  • 04. Design Recommendations

I develop a lighting plan tailored to your home. This includes advice on natural lighting: window dressings, fabric types, and ways to maximise daylight, as well as guidance on artificial lighting: fixtures, bulb types, fixture placement, brightness, temperature, and control.

  • 05. Receive your Lighting Guide

You’ll receive a document outlining all recommendations with sketches or notes explaining the rationale behind each choice. We can review this together over a video call, or I can send it for you to explore in your own time.

  • 06. Request Additional Support*

*If required. This service includes one round of revisions. If you’d like continued support with specifying products, sourcing, or coordinating installation, this can be arranged through one of my other design services.
